This coffee was traditionally used as ballast in sailing ships, the combination of salt and wood gave it a unique taste profile. Today the raw beans are buried for up to five years to mature and achieve that robust taste our Java is loved for. Underground they develop a full-bodied taste with tangy, spicy, tobacco notes and no acidity; perfect for espresso lovers.
